The NI-FBUS Configurator 3.2.1 is a free update to the NI-FBUS Software 3.2. The NI-FBUS Configurator 3.2.1 includes the NI-FBUS Communications Manager (CM) 3.2.1 and the NI-FBUS Configurator 3.2.1.

The NI-FBUS Configurator 3.2.1 includes the following features:

• Support for Windows Vista, the 32-bit version
• Support for DDS 5.0.5 specification.
• Support for EDDL extension.
• Support for OPC DA 3.0 specification.
• Integrates NI License Manager for software activation.
• Enhanced HSE network configuration in Interface Configuration Utility.
• New NI-FBUS library interface based on .Net framework with strong name.
• New Device Live List in NI-FBUS Configurator to display all live links and devices.
• Individual and configurable icons for each FF instrument device.

The NI-FBUS Configurator 3.2.1 supports Windows Vista, the 32-bit version; Windows XP Service Pack 2; and Windows 2000 Service Pack 4. The NI-FBUS Configurator does not support Windows Vista x64 Edition, the 64-bit version.

Install the NI-FBUS software before you install hardware such as the PCMCIA-FBUS, PCMCIA-FBUS Series 2, and PCI-FBUS/2 cards.

If you have both the NI-FBUS Software 3.2 and the NI-FBUS Monitor 3.0 installed on the same computer, you must upgrade the existing software to the NI-FBUS Configurator 3.2.1 and NI-FBUS Monitor 3.0.1.

If you have the NI-FBUS Software 3.2 installed on the computer, you do not need to uninstall that version before installing the NI-FBUS Configurator 3.2.1. If you have the NI-FBUS Configurator 3.1.1 or earlier installed on the computer, you first must uninstall that previous version from the computer before installing the NI-FBUS Configurator 3.2.1. You also must remove all existing NI-FBUS cards, such as the PCMCIA-FBUS, PCMCIA-FBUS Series 2, and PCI-FBUS/2 cards, from the computer.

When the installation is complete, the installer prompts you to activate the NI-FBUS Configurator. You also can activate the NI-FBUS Configurator later using the NI License Manager. You must activate the NI-FBUS Configurator before you can use the following features:

• Ethernet and High-Speed-Ethernet (HSE) Linking Device in the Add Interface Wizard, Interface Configuration Utility, and Communications Manager
• H1 interfaces (PCMCIA-FBUS and PCI-FBUS), HSE interfaces (Ethernet and HSE Linking Device), and CN2FF interfaces (ControlNet to Foundation Field)

You do not need to activate the NI-FBUS Configurator in the following situations:

• Upgrade the NI-FBUS Configurator from version 3.2
• Install the drivers for the following NI-FBUS cards: PCI-FBUS (Part Number 778573-01) and PCMCIA-FBUS (Part Number 777272-01/777282-02)
• Evaluate the NI-FBUS Configurator in offline mode
