Description

Thank you for using NI-DAQmx, version 8.7.1. This release resolves an issue with unexpected analog output values on NI USB-6211, NI USB-6212, NI USB-6216, NI USB-6215, and NI USB-6218 devices.

NI-DAQmx 8.7.1 can be obtained by either using the National Instruments Downloader available above, or directly at http://ftp.ni.com/support/softlib/multifunction_daq/nidaqmx/8.7.1/NIDAQ871f3.exe. When the National Instruments Downloader completes downloading the distribution you will be able to launch the installer. The National Instruments Downloader will automatically remove itself from your computer after it completes.

NI-DAQmx 8.7.1 is the latest measurement services software for your data acquisition and signal conditioning devices.

The following main features were added in NI-DAQmx 8.7.1:

  • Newly supported devices in NI-DAQmx—NI 9225, NI 9229 (BNC), NI 9235, NI 9236, NI 9239, NI 9239 (BNC), NI 9263 (BNC), NI USB-6281 (Mass Termination and Screw Terminal), NI USB-6289 (Mass Termination and Screw Terminal), NI USB-6509, NI USB-9229, NI USB-9229 (BNC), NI USB-9239, NI USB-9239 (BNC), and NI USB-9263 (BNC). Refer to Device Support in the NI-DAQ Readme for a complete list of devices.
  • Shunt calibration—Shunt calibration is now supported for both bridge and strain gage sensors..
  • SCXI calibration—Channel calibration is now supported for the SCXI-1122 and SCXI-1521.
  • NI LabVIEW 8.5.1 support in addition to LabVIEW 8.x and LabVIEW 7.1
  • NI 6509 and NI 651x devices now support the DI.MemMapEnable and DO.MemMapEnable properties. DI.MemMapEnable is turned on by default, but DO.MemMapEnable must be turned on manually.
  • NI 6509 devices now support the DO.Tristate property.
  • NI 9219 ADC timing mode is now configurable within the DAQ Assistant.
  • DAQ Assistant support for SignalExpress 2.5

Installation Instructions

Perform the following steps to install NI-DAQmx:

  1. Download and run the self-extracting executable NIDAQ871f3.exe.
    This will install NI-DAQmx 8.7.1 and all necessary driver files.
  2. You can optionally download and run the self-extracting executable for the NI-DAQmx Device Documentation 8.7.1. (Linked Below)
    This will install the device documentation for the hardware supported in this release of NI-DAQ.

To conserve disk space you can delete your extracted files. It is recommended that you keep the extracted installation files in case you need to add features from the NI-DAQmx distribution in the future.

Install Notes

The NI-DAQmx distribution is packaged as a self-extracting archive that will automatically launch the driver installer. By default, files are extracted to C:\National Instruments Downloads\NI-DAQmx\8.7.1\ and can be deleted to conserve disk space. It is recommended that you keep the extracted installation files in case you need to add features from the NI-DAQmx distribution in the future.
