This page provides updates for Signal Express 1.1.1. Currently included are multiple updates for the Save to ASCII/LVM step and support for the SCXI-1600 USB DAQ Device. These updates can be installed individually, regardless of order, but National Instruments recommends installing each of them. For a more detailed description of the updates, including installation instructions, please refer to the documentation below.

Last Updated: 09/22/2006

  • Patch_1.1.1.0004.exe

    • Purpose: This patch fixes the following issues.
      • SignalExpress 1.1.1 only included support for User Defined Steps created in LabVIEW 7.1. This patch adds support for both LabVIEW 8.0 and LabVIEW 8.2 User Defined Steps.
      • This patch also includes the Patch_1.1.1.0003 patch which fixes the following issues.
        • The ASCII/LVM step in SignalExpress 1.1.1 only saves a portion of the data instead of the full data set when saving a signal acquired using a reference trigger.
      • This patch also includes the Patch_1.1.1.0002 patch which fixes the following issues.
        • The User-Defined Step in SignalExpress 1.1.1 executes when configuring a sweep even with the Auto-Run checkbox unchecked.
      • This patch also includes the Patch_1.1.1.0001 patch which fixes the following issues.
        • The Save to ASCII/LVM step in SignalExpress 1.1 and 1.1.1 takes a long time to write large amounts of data. This patch corrects this behavior by chunking the data while writing to file. This operation uses less total memory and improves overall performance.

    • Installation Instructions:
      1. Download and run the self-extracting zip file.
      2. You will be prompted for your National Instruments directory. The default path is C:\Program Files\National Instruments. If this the correct path, then select Unzip. If this path is incorrect, replace it with the path of your National Instruments directory.
      3. Select Unzip.
      4. If you are using a version of LabVIEW that is later than 7.1, then after installation, you must copy C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 7.1\vi.lib\express\SignalExpress\Support\Simulation\ExportLVMSignal.llb to the same location under your LabVIEW directory. For example, if you are using LabVIEW 8.2, you would copy the ExportLVMSignal.llb file to C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.2\vi.lib\express\SignalExpress\Support\Simulation\ExportLVMSignal.llb.

  • SE 1.1.1 Save to ASCII-LVM Critical Update.zip

    • Purpose: The Save to ASCII/LVM step in SignalExpress 1.1.1 does not accept any inputs and reports "No Input Available" under the step name in the project view and in the Inputs list of the Step Setup dialog. To correct this behavior, install Shared Datatypes 1.2.2.

    • Installation Instructions:
      1. Unzip the contents of this zip file to a temp directory.
      2. Run mswDatatypes.msi.
      3. Note: In addition to the download located on this page, Shared Datatypes 1.2.2 or better can also be found on the August 2005 and later Driver CDs. The file to run and install is mswDatatypes.msi.

  • user_DAQmxAcquire.llb

    • Purpose: The SCXI-1600 is not properly identified as a DAQ device in SignalExpress 1.1 and 1.1.1. To work around this, use the user_DAQmxAcquire user VI as part of a User-Defined step.

    • Installation Instructions:
      1. Download and use the file.
      2. For more information, please refer to the KnowledgeBase article, Using the SCXI-1600 USB DAQ Device with SignalExpress 1.1.x.
